Split piper

The rats ate grain

The rats ate chicken

The rats ate everything

Including the poor piper’s

Music

Because nobody would feed

A musician already broken

Making art of nothing.

So play for the rats

They like fun

And

Wander away to

The mountain sun

And learn

To play

And then go

Silent

So there

Rats will stay safe

And

Maybe?

The Townsfolk will

Pay?

Let the piper stay?

Aleviate their pain?

The piper looked back

But the Townsfolk said:

You have done

Nothing;

Get away.

Then broken piper played

For just themselves

And went back

To their

Rat mountain.

But the children:

They like fun

And

The song

Led them away to

The mountain sun

And they learned

To play

So there

Children stay safe

As they grow up.

Maybe

Now

The Townsfolk

Will properly

Explain.

Look at the story again?

Oh no

They always make

The piper the villain.

Hmph.

Fine, going back

Because:

The piper

Did not know

They missed one child

Already broken

Who remembers

Being left behind

By birth alone

And weeps

As an adult.

But:

The piper

Went back

To carry

That lamb

To safety.
